Both the biodiversity of plants and animals and cultural diversity must be preserved, which makes them related. People tend to ignorantly demolish diversity within our ecosystem and culture without knowing it because they are too caught up within their own frame of mind. What biodiversity and cultural diversity does is ultimatley teaches people respect and tolerance while providing a variety for citizens to choose who and where they want to be.
Without knowing how much harm they are actually doing to the world, people tend to misuse the ecosystem for their own personal gain. There is a constant unsustainable use of natural resources happening in almost every country; add on to that pollution and the loss of habitat due to the expansion of urban areas and we now are taking our world for granted. Just like it is hard to see what we do to biodiversity, the same applies for cultural diversity. When countries are implementing strict rules that abide by certain cultures, but restrain others, you being to loose a complete culture. The best example I can provide is when I was learning about the Tibetan culture within southwest China slowly becoming extinct due to Chinese government implementing what they want. These Tibetan children go to school and are forced to learn mandarin Chinese is an example of demolishing a culture's language. Also, there is a lot of debate over cochlear implants, which has no association with the government, but seen as something brainlessly getting rid of culture with respects to sign language and individuals who are deaf.
People do not see what these affects are because they are too self centered. Everyone needs to step back and look at the world from time to time and see what choices they make always have an effect. It should be one of the government's duties to protect biodiversity, and allow cultural diversity to flouris. Reason being for biodiversity is because when all of tthe ecosystem is spent up and everything is wiped out, it will not be the generation that wasted it's problem, but it will be the next generations. Therefore, government must preserve and find new opportunities within our diverse world so generations to come will not suffer. They must protect culture in order to allow people to be essentially free in who they are and who they want to be. People share different beliefs and values, and those ideas should be respected as long as if it is for the good of society. Sameness can lead to destruction and anarchy.
